BioBlitz 2024 Programme – Kilkeran Lake and Castlefreke Dunes
Join us Mon evening 20th May and all day Tues 21st May for an event to record as many species as possible in the company of experts, with a series of mini-events covering moths, birds, bats, newts, flowers, seaweeds, spiders, hoverflies, marine mammals and more!

Monday 20th may @ 20:30
- 20:30 moth walk and trapping demo gareth o’donnell. Ken bond meeto kilkeran rowing boat house
- 21:30 bat, nighttime bird and newt walk with david rees npws, rob gandola herpetological soc ireland, meet kilkeran rowing boat house.
Tuesday 21st may @ 09:00-17:00
- 09:00 gather/bailigh le cheile at fish basket café
- 10:00 bird, butterfly and dragon fly walk with ciaran cronin, meet at kilkeran rowing boat house
- 11:00 bryophyte walk rory hodd, meet at fishbasket café
- 11:30 shore line walk-frances gallagher, meet at fish basket café
- 13:00 am lón/lunch gather at fish basket café (bring packed lunch)
- 14:00 botanical walk and chats dune flora & conservation management with phoebe o’brien, abi brewer, rory hodd, paul whelan, clare heardman, claire deasy, meet at fishbasket
- 16:00 invertebrate talk-tom gittings & myles nolan (spiders), fish basket café
- 17:00 wrap up/deireadh an lae at fishbasket café
- 17:30 seawatch pádraig whooley, irish whale & dolphin group, cloghna head
